Electricity sector and energy savings

Energy saving project: Guadalquivir olives

Bettergy reactivates the utility-customer relationship to create a new energy future.

Bettergy’s data management platform optimizes consumption, reduces the time and cost of analysis, increases the depth and scope of analysis, and improves Enel’s customer satisfaction.

The results obtained by energy marketers are a reduction in the churn rate of dissatisfied customers, an improvement in their image and an increase in sales of other services associated with energy management.

The goal of 21st century companies: energy savings and the environment.

One of the projects carried out by Bettergy has been with the company Aceitunas Guadalquivir, a company that started its activity in the 1960s with the packaging of pickles, and which is currently one of the world leaders in the export of olives.

In recent years, the company’s economic efforts have been oriented towards three clear objectives: the creation of social value within the company, the environment, through a Waste Minimization and Regulation Plan, and the development of its food safety policy and productivity improvement.

Data analysis and energy savings

The starting point for the Bettergy team’s work is the analysis of a full year’s consumption curves. This potential is quantified in terms of energy, economic and carbon footprint reduction.

The energy consumption analysis carried out at the Aceitunas Guadalquivir plant in Morón de la Frontera, Seville, a 50,000 m2 plant, is divided into an analysis of annual, monthly, weekly, daily and period consumption. It also includes measures that can be applied immediately and require investment so that the client can optimize its energy performance.

With the operational analysis alone – our experience shows that in some cases, the potential of this type of savings can account for up to 50% of the client’s total savings – the following improvements were achieved:

  • 10% reduction in the level of energy consumption associated with the base load.
  • Optimization of contracted power, and consumption associated with start-ups and shutdowns of installations.
  • Reduction of consumption peaks.
  • Reduction of energy consumption by 15% by regulating the entry of personnel to the building during certain periods.
  • A 5% reduction in consumption on non-working days and/or holidays.

Implementation of an energy management system and alarms that allow warnings on anomalous consumption, with indicators and recommendations not only for energy, but others such as water consumption.

 Results:

Potential savings of 94,264.86 € have been identified, equivalent to 204.04 Tn CO2, and energy savings of 755,718.31 kWh.

Reducing the energy consumed not only translates into economic savings but also reduces carbon dioxide emissions into the environment.

This substantially helps to conserve the environment and improve the social and corporate image of the operating companies in the building.

We enable utilities to improve the relationship with their end customers, improving their loyalty and churn rate, as well as increasing sales of associated services.
