The electric utilities sector

The situation

The electric utilities sector is still a traditional sector as far as small suppliers are concerned, and innovative but slow as far as large companies are concerned.

In any case, some of them meet the same pattern, and that is a poor rating by the customers they work with.

The solution

This has to change, and from Bettergy, we work to offer these electric companies with our platform, a unique opportunity to build customer loyalty. We are not only talking about those large industries, where energy is one of the main costs, and therefore key to take into account, but also about those small companies, most of them in Spain and Europe, where we offer a different way of looking at the energy bill,

  • Digitizing the information.
  • Proposing savings and opportunities for improvement in a simple and clear way.
  • Allowing vertical integration of the energy efficiency business.

Bettergy is ready to help change the sector, with a great team that brings together energy knowledge, data analysis and software to help utilities change their business model.

Savings and sustainability challenges

This is the only way we will be able to address the savings and sustainability challenges that the European Union and international commitments such as the Paris Treaty, COP 21 of 2015 are forcing us to meet:

  • 40% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, compared to 1990 levels.
  • 27% share of renewable energies.
  • 27% improvement in energy efficiency.

And all this by 2030, just 12 years and a lot of work to be done.

In the last 40 years, the planet’s temperature growth rate has been between 0.15 and 0.2 ºC per decade according to the Goddard Institute for Space Studies, an agency belonging to NASA, and to avoid that temperature increase, we need to do something, but something exponentially different from what has been done so far.

We believe, and we work for it, that we need tools to reduce the time and cost of the analysis of potential in terms of energy improvement measures, it will be the only way to achieve those goals.

“It’s not just a matter of providing information, but we have to think that we need companies and tools, who know how to integrate those proposed improvement measures, who understand that the evolution and growth of our countries, will require further electrification.”

“We will go globally from a final demand with a degree of electrification of 17% to around 65% in the coming years.”

“And that this will require greater investment in renewable facilities, only in Spain 10,000 new MW until 2030, the installation of electric vehicle charging points that allow changing mobility, about 80,000 points until 2020, improve lighting consumption by efficient technologies such as LED, and make heating, cooling and air conditioning efficient equipment through improved control and operational elements, which in our experience, in some cases can represent 50% of the potential savings of many customers.”
