At Bettergy, we are proud to be part of the DIGI-GROW project, a groundbreaking initiative advancing sustainability in the agri-food sector. Funded by the ICT-Agri-Food joint call and supported by the Andalusian Technological Corporation (CTA), this innovative project aims to revolutionize resource management in agriculture and renewable energy generation through agrivoltaic systems (APV).
What are Agrivoltaic Systems?
Agrivoltaic systems (APV) combine agricultural production and solar energy generation on the same land, maximizing land-use efficiency. By integrating these activities, we not only enhance land productivity but also reduce water consumption and dependence on fossil fuels, contributing to the fight against climate change.
How Does DIGI-GROW Make a Difference?
DIGI-GROW goes beyond implementing APV systems. This project develops an advanced digital platform to:
- Optimize Resources: By leveraging simulation models and analytical tools, we reduce water and energy consumption.
- Enhance Profitability: Real-time data enables better-informed decisions, increasing both agricultural and energy yields.
- Maximize Land Use: Combining agricultural production with solar generation fosters a more resilient and efficient food system.
The Power of Collaboration
DIGI-GROW brings together an international consortium of excellence, offering diverse and complementary expertise:
- German Aerospace Center (DLR): Leaders in solar research and agrivoltaic system modeling.
- Ege University (Turkey): Specialists in sustainability, water management, and environmental assessments.
- Avoin Association (Finland): Experts in software development and real-time data analytics.
- Bettergy (Spain): Innovators in energy management, simulation, and digital solutions development.
Thanks to the support of the Andalusian Technological Corporation (CTA), international cooperation in innovative projects like DIGI-GROW is being promoted, aligning public and private efforts to transform the agri-food sector. A Global Impact
The project will validate these technologies through demonstration facilities in Spain and Turkey, addressing key challenges such as water-use efficiency, agricultural profitability, and real-time data integration. The results will benefit both farmers and the environment, driving more resilient and sustainable food systems.
DIGI-GROW also aligns with global objectives like the European Green Deal, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), paving the way for a more innovative and efficient agricultural future.
