DSS-OPT. Advanced software solution for optimal sizing and operation of energy storage systems with photovoltaic energy production.
DSS-OPT proposes the creation, development and operation of a technological solution that allows all types of promoters of distributed generation projects with energy storage to carry out an optimal sizing of these systems in their study phase, to subsequently optimize their operation maximizing their economic and environmental performance as an energy asset, while facilitating monitoring, verifying their performance with respect to the original study carried out.
Our digital tool of Solar Self-consumption + Energy Storage is decomposed as just introduced in three main services:
- DIMENSIONING: This service supports the modeling of projects and the generation of solar self-consumption offers with energy storage. This service greatly speeds up the sales process and the creation of professional proposals / commercial offers on a massive scale. Project sizing determines which PV power and battery storage capacity meet the stated objectives, i.e. a minimum internal rate of return (IRR) for the project, combined with a certain degree of energy self-sufficiency. This service allows for a graphical sensitivity analysis.
- OPERATION: The purpose of this service is to optimize the system in economic-energy terms, making it possible to minimize the discharge of photovoltaic generation and therefore materializing a reduction in emissions.
- MONITORING: This monitoring will allow an objective quantification of the economic, energetic and environmental cost avoided by the system. From here also the measurement and verification (M&V) of the savings generated with respect to the original estimate. The quantification of energy savings will also be translated into CO2 emissions.
In short, our technological solution’s main objective is to optimize the value of energy assets according to a series of previously established economic and environmental objectives, e.g. a minimum project internal rate of return (IRR), while guaranteeing a certain degree of energy self-sufficiency.
Added value and market innovation
DSS-OPT is an experimental development project, promoting innovative solutions aimed at optimally managing the available energy resources through applications that integrate smart technologies, promote the use of clean energy, enhance energy efficiency, maximize the value of data and promote citizen participation.
Currently, there are numerous solar self-consumption oriented solutions on the market that have boosted the deployment of renewable generation in recent years, even more so in the current energy situation, characterized by an upward trend in energy bills. On the other hand, advanced technological solutions aimed at the intelligent management of solar self-consumption systems with storage devices that minimize the disposal of surpluses and maximize self-consumption, and that are also interoperable with third-party applications, are not easily found in the market.
Future and commercial vision
DSS-OPT is a further step in our aim to digitize the energy experience to create a new future, we intend to broaden the scope of our commercial offering and added value. In this regard, the exploitation plan is aimed in the first instance at promoting the product among our customer base, where there is already a declared demand for solar self-consumption solutions that integrate storage and participation in the flexibility markets.
In the short term, we believe that DSS-OPT has a promising future and can become a pioneering solution in the market for self-consumption facility management solutions with storage and energy flexibility on a national level, as well as a commercialization process on an international scale.
