Bettergy Supports Bahia’s Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Pilot
Bettergy is proud to announce its participation in a pioneering project to develop electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure along highways in Bahia, Brazil. As global efforts to accelerate the energy transition in the transport sector gain momentum, this project marks a crucial step for the state of Bahia in advancing sustainable mobility.
The Vision for Sustainable Mobility in Bahia
Bahia, the fourth-largest state in Brazil, with a population of over 14 million people, is preparing for the future of transportation. The state is currently developing strategies to reduce its carbon footprint by focusing on the implementation of EV charging stations along its extensive highway network. This initiative aligns with Bahia’s commitment to sustainable transportation and the broader goals of Brazil’s National Urban Mobility Plan and National Program for Green Mobility and Innovation (Mover), which aim to promote cleaner mobility solutions, including electric vehicles.
Project Objectives and Scope
The pilot project will focus on deploying electric charging infrastructure along key highways in Bahia. Working closely with the State Infrastructure Secretariat (SEINFRA), the project will develop a comprehensive strategy to evaluate and prioritize areas for EV charging station installations. Additionally, the strategy will leverage case studies from other Brazilian states and international projects to ensure alignment with best practices.
Key aspects of the project include:
- Site Assessment and Strategy Development: Analyzing traffic data and geographic factors to determine the best locations for EV charging stations.
- Regulatory Framework Review: Identifying barriers and opportunities for integrating EV charging infrastructure into existing road contracts and developing the necessary regulatory adjustments.
- Pilot Execution and Evaluation: Defining key performance indicators to measure the pilot’s success, which will inform future expansion of EV charging infrastructure in Bahia.
The Future of Electromobility in Bahia
In 2019, Bahia’s road transport sector was responsible for 15.5% of the state’s total CO2 emissions, making the transition to low-carbon mobility solutions essential. By facilitating the adoption of electric vehicles through accessible charging infrastructure, this project will help Bahia reduce its carbon emissions and contribute to Brazil’s broader sustainability and energy efficiency goals.
Bettergy is honored to contribute its expertise to this transformative project, which will not only benefit the environment but also enhance the quality of life for Bahia’s residents by making electric vehicle adoption easier and more convenient.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue shaping the future of mobility in Brazil!
